The K-Rend silicone render incorporates silicone water repellents within the cement render mixture. This silicone technology imparts a high degree of water repellency to the render surface whilst allowing water vapour (air) to pass through the render allowing the substrate to breathe. The reason for this is because the silicone component is hydrophobic (water hating) and doesn’t interact well with the water particles. The water repellant surface ensures a freshly rendered appearance for a long period. The finish is drier and thus more resistant to algae growth and the natural phenomenon of limebloom (the migration of calcium salts from within the render material to the surface of the rendering material). All K-Rend renders are pre-coloured with a wide range of colours to choose from. To summarise:
K-rend’s advantages are:
- resistant to algae growth and the natural phenomenon of limebloom
- it is pre-coloured with a wide range of colours to choose from
K-rend’s disadvantages are:
- it doesn’t increase the efficiency of your construction works which Weber does because it isn’t quick drying
Weber is a one coat, ready mixed, cementitious, weather resistant, external decorative, through coloured render, suitable for most types of brick or blockwork that requires only the addition of water on site. The through colour and one coat features allow fast application with shorter programme periods reducing the time taken to work on a site which means costs associated with hiring scaffolding, the site etc are lowered and the ground works are completed earlier. To summarise:
Weber’s advantages are:
- increases the efficiency of your construction works which K Rend doesn’t do.
- Weber requires only one coat whereas Sto-rend and K-rend require more.
Weber’s disadvantages are:
- it doesn’t have the silicone components like K-rend does so it doesn’t have great resistance to algae and limebloom.
StoRend synthetic render systems assist in overcoming many substrate issues to provide an attractive, through-coloured and long lasting render finish. The StoRend Heritage mineralic render only systems provide traditional and authentic mineralic finishes for a range of substrate and building requirements. The thick coat render finish protects exposed walls from moisture penetration, frost damage and everyday knocks and scrapes. This render is the ideal building material to achieve an aesthetically pleasing look and feel of your property. Available in a vast range of colours and textures, render provides flexibility for your most demanding or simple designs. To summarise:
Sto-Rend’s advantages are:
- it has a wide variety of products available depending on your needs, from weather proofing for areas near the coastal region, reinforced mesh-render sytem for a robust render to purely decorative purposes.
