What is Ashlar Cut Render?
Ashlar cut render is a technique used to mimic the appearance of ashlar stonework.
This technique involves applying a render, typically a cement-based or lime render, and then cutting precise, straight lines into the surface to simulate the look of individual stone blocks. The cuts create the appearance of mortar joints, giving the illusion of an ashlar stone wall.
PROS AND CONS:
- Compared to real stone, it is more affordable. It offers the luxury look of stone masonry at a fraction of the price.
- You can pick different colours and sizes of the “stone” blocks to match your preferred style.
- Although cheaper than using real stone, it is generally more expensive than a plain render finish due to the additional labour and expertise required.
