When should lime render be applied? – ExternalRendering

We get many enquiries to apply lime render to a property, however when asked why they want us to apply lime render to their property? The response is normally “because this is what I have been told”. The reason lime render is normally applied has a lot to do with the brick mortar behind the render.

If the brick mortar is made out of lime then that is normally an indication that you should apply a lime render to walls. The reason a sand a cement render would not be suitable is due tot he fact that it would react with the lime and crack. It’s normally old buildings that require lime render because cement was not used during the construction of the building at that time.
